ABSTRACT

This paper discusses ethical problems having to do with the four areas of both cloning research and its application : the cloning of an entire individual human being, human embryonic stem cell research, animal rights of the transgenic animals, and the patent rights in the case of genetically modified organism(GMO).

First, this paper simply points out the concerns about the nightmare where the cloning technology is possibly used for eugenic purposes. Next, the paper suggests that the adult stem cell research is, from a moral point of view, a superior alternative to embryonic stem cell research. Third, the paper calls for attention to considerations that animal rights, whatever it may be, are especially violated in the case of transgenic animals. Finally, the paper calls into question whether the patent rights may appropriately be taken out for GMOs.
